Campin' Fever

Boy did we camp this weekend.  We originally thought we were going to be in tents.  Lucky for us we were scheduled in the Beechwood Cabins along with another Brownie troop.  Friday night started out fast with an introduction and then a small amount of daylight to hike our stuff to our site and get situated.  We all learned a few lessons about packing from that experience!

After we swept the cabins and made our beds we grabbed our mess kits to head up to the dining hall for a bedtime snack and some songs. 

Getting everyone tucked in was quite an experience.  Our instructor told us we would be warmer if we changed our socks and panties before going to bed (the perspiration would make you chilled).  Imagine eight little girls changing inside their sleeping bags only after finding their jammies, panties and socks in their bags!!!  Crazy times.

Grace, Abby and Autumn stayed in this cabin.  What a night they had.  At one point the three of them were sleeping in Abby's bed.  They said they were keeping warm and keeping up each other's spirits.

Our first task of the morning was "Knots, Knives and Leave No Trace" with John Bess and his PA's.

We moved outside.  Yes, I said outside.  We learned about flag ceremonies.

Our last two events were indoors.  Yahoo!  This is us chilling at Evergreen Lodge eating our snacks and waiting for First Aid to start.

Our last event as a group was learning about Kaper charts and trip planning.

Saturday night they gave us all the supplies to make dinner back at our campsites.  6 adults, 17 scouts and one fire.  Sara was the head fire starter.  Not an easy feat when most of the wood is wet.  The girls used their knife skills to chop the vegetables. 

We had "Hobo Chicken Tortilla wraps" and dutch oven garlic potatoes.  Dessert was apple or cherry pies (in pie irons) and s'mores.
